On 12th January 2018 I had a dream where my daughter Eden, a few other people, and I, were seated at a table with Apostle John Mulinde. The Apostle told us, “Western Europe is going to do again something that will negatively impact Uganda’s economy. Get ready not to live a great life, but a greater life.” Then to illustrate, he asked for Eden. I carried her onto the table as I said, “She can sing.” Apostle Mulinde then put something solid in her mouth; but because it was so uncomfortable for Eden, it was removed. Then I awoke.

God wants us to prepare for a coming economic crisis that will be triggered primarily by countries in Western Europe. A few years ago, several European nations withheld foreign aid from Uganda for a few months; at the time it adversely affected our economy. It is possible that this is what is going to happen again. But God says, “Get ready to live a greater life.”

In the dream, what was put in Eden’s mouth was really uncomfortable, and she could not sing with it. I believe this is symbolic of foreign aid that hinders us from speaking our mind. The good news is that when that foreign aid is stopped, you and I are going to live a greater life. Those are not my words. I am simply a prophetic voice, echoing the promise of a faithful God. Believe God when He says, “You are going to live a greater life when the flow of foreign aid is interrupted and Uganda’s economy experiences a crisis.”

In order to prosper during the coming financial famine, God would want us to make certain preparations using the wisdom of the Bible.

When Joseph understood that a severe famine was coming, by the wisdom of God, he recommended that a reserve be set up so “that the land may not perish during the famine” (Genesis 41:36). God wants us to apply the wisdom of Joseph – to save some money. In case your favorite preacher has made you buy into the false doctrine that saving money is not for New Testament believers, take time and meditate on the Scripture: “Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition” (1 Corinthians 10:11). And, read the dream featured in this article, which confirms that God wants us to save money.

By the way, the reserve that Joseph put aside, enabled him to accumulate wealth for his master the Pharaoh of Egypt. Because the people needed food during the famine, they gave away all their money, flocks, land and even themselves – to Joseph who had ready “cash”. If you apply the financial wisdom of Joseph by saving some money, you too might acquire property at giveaway prices, as people start to sell what they have in order to survive.

Sermon: Prospering in the coming famine

Hundreds of years later, another famine was prophesied. God’s people prepared for it though differently this time: “Agabus, stood up and showed by the Spirit that there was going to be a great famine throughout all the world, which also happened in the days of Claudius Caesar. Then the disciples, each according to his ability, determined to send relief to the brethren dwelling in Judea. This they also did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul” (Acts 11:28-30). In addition to Joseph’s wisdom of saving, God would also want us to apply the spiritual financial wisdom of these saints – they prepared for the famine by giving. Later, when the Corinthians were encouraged to also send relief to Judea, they were told, “God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8). We too, as we exercise generosity, should expect to “always have sufficiency in all things” and particularly during the coming famine.

Financial hardship is coming, because of something Western Europe is going to do again. However, God has promised that you will live a greater life during that famine. While many people starve, you will have plenty; you will actually be their savior because of what you will have kept aside, the same way Joseph preserved his family. But, you need to be prepared. Have faith that you will prosper in famine (according to God’s promise), tithe, give and save some money.

That was my message on Sunday. After I delivered it, one of my church members, Honest Kamikazi, told me a dream she had had that morning. In it she was telling people to tithe, give and save. During the day on Saturday, and before she slept, she had been reading the chapters in Genesis relating to how Joseph prospered in famine, and saved an entire nation and his own family. Kamikazi’s dream obviously confirmed my dream and message, that a famine is indeed coming, but you child of God will prosper, if you make the right preparations.

God bless you.
