The Lord is good. He has done good things for you and I, He is doing us good now, and has vowed to do more good things in the future. This we reminded ourselves of last week.

Since we are convinced of God’s goodness, there are a few things we should discipline ourselves to do.

First and foremost, we should be thankful to God. We should sincerely be grateful for all the things He does for us, small and great. Sometimes we miss realizing that even the little good things that come our way are from God. In fact, by the mere fact that God did these things means that they are not actually little. Whatever God does is big and great. Therefore, we need to thank Him. And this brings me to the second thing we must cultivate in our lives in view of the Lord’s goodness.

We must thank the people that God uses to bless us. I personally enjoy listening to anointed music. For that matter, I try to thank those who bless me in that regard. Just last week on Thursday at our prayer meeting, Praise, Teddy, Jade, Andrew and Bruce led us in one of the most glorious worship sessions I have ever had. I could not but express my gratitude to and for them. I am not perfect in this area of thanking God’s vessels, but I want to grow in it. I remember, when I finished my bachelor’s degree, I looked for some of my primary school teachers who believed in me. Those I found, I gave them some dimes. There are two I have not yet found. I often pray to God to bring them my way if they are still alive so that I can thank them for the blessing they were. Let me now use this opportunity to thank God for Rachel and Mark. I wonder what LAT would be without them. They are real gifts from God to us.

The other thing we need to do in view of God’s goodness is to also be good to Him. We should show goodness to God primarily by obeying His commandments, doing what He instructs us, and singing Him love songs. If you did not know, know it today – God loves love songs. There are many bogus songs that are composed and sang in His name which are simply that – bogus. However, a child of God must know the real love songs that touch His heart and sing them to Him. Hallelujah!

In addition to being good to God, we should also be good to His people. This entails treating people fairly, and extending grace to those who miss ‘our mark’. “He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy.” (Micah 6:8)

And lastly, we should stop complaining and grumbling. There are people, and I am among them, who will complain about everything God does for them! They prayed to God for a spouse and God answered their prayer. Now they are complaining how the chic or dude ain’t it. People believe God for jobs. Immediately thereafter they start complaining about working 9 to 5 Monday to Friday. Imagine what they would do if they were to work 8 to 6 Monday to Saturday. Banange, complaining is evil. I must stop it, and you too must stop it. Complaining hindered many Israelites from entering the Promised Land; and their children who entered therein did so about 38 years late. The parents’ sin of complaining caused the children to stay longer outside the promises. No one should be that bad to their ‘kids’. God is good; we also ought to be good to our children by shutting our big mouths.

God bless you.
