On 25thMarch 2020 I shared with you a dream in which God rebuked me for not spending time with my baby girl. By sharing my experience, I was encouraging you the parents, especially fathers, to utilize the COVID-19 lockdown to spend time with your little ones.

Now dear parents, if, indeed, you are now spending time with your kids, include Bible Study in that time. If you do this, God will be very pleased with you and your children will make it to heaven and into the kingdom of God on earth.

Recently, as I spent time with my 6-year old daughter Abigail, I discovered she did not know some of the basics (for her age) of the most fundamental Bible stories. I had presumed that because Abigail attended a Kindergarten owned and run by a Mulokole, and since she now attends a school with a Christian-based curriculum, she knew the ‘basics of the basics’ for her age. I was therefore shocked when I learnt that this was not the case. However, I should not have been shocked. For if I her father had not taught Abigail the Word of God, who did I think had the God-given responsibility to do so? It dawned on me that in the very important aspect of teaching my daughter the Scriptures, I was a miserable failure; I had failed my daughter and God.

I immediately decided to come up with a crash course for ‘Abi’ so that we can do a catch-up and redeem the lost time. As I thought about it, her older sister Eden brought me a large collection of Bible story books that she read at Abi’s age, which books instructed her in the ‘basics of the basics’. We then started reading them together and the ‘struggle continues’. As of this moment, Abi has an acceptable knowledge of Noah, Shem, Ham and Japheth. And among other things, she can also tell you why Moses was hidden in a basket, and that Jacob did not have only twelve children. I know some of you adults neither know who Japheth is, nor the number of people who survived the flood, and you are not convinced that Jacob had more than twelve children. Well, you need Abi’s services – she is now a kafulu (expert). This is not to say that you should quiz my girl on the Bible when you next meet her; leave my children alone. (Smile).

The point I am endeavoring to make is that parents must teach their children the Word of God. This responsibility is neither for the schools nor the churches. You my friend are commanded by God to instruct the children God entrusted you with in the way they should go. When they grow up with that foundation, they will not depart from the ways of the Lord and they will go to heaven if they die or are raptured. Hallelujah.

The great prophet Moses, on God’s behalf, told the Israelites that: “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up” (Deuteronomy 6:6-7). I have news for you: what was told to the Israelite parents thousands of years ago is now being told to you in 2020 – teach your children diligently the words of God.

Before your children are deceived that Kintu was the first man, who married a chic called Nambi, whose good brother Kayikuzi chased the bad brother called Walumbe down to Tanda (in Mityana), please teach them the only truth there is – the Holy Scriptures.

We are in the very last of the last days before Jesus returns. The only people He will rapture ‘outta’ here (after the Great Tribulation), to escape the wrath of God and to reign with Him, will be those who eagerly waited for Him. Eagerly waiting for Jesus means keeping oneself pure and unspotted from the world. Now, tell me: How will our children be counted worthy to escape the wrath of God if we parents never teach them the commandments they ought to observe in order to remain unspotted by evil? Parents, if we neglect teaching our little ones the word of God, they will end up in hell. We must deliberately spend time teaching them the Holy Scriptures which will save their souls. Our children should be like Timothy who from childhood was taught the Scriptures which if he obeyed would afford him eternal salvation: “From childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.” (2 Timothy 3:15)

If you do not yet have children, please stop planning to have any if you do not intend to school them in the Word of God. Otherwise, when they do come, you will simply be preparing them for hell fire.

Let me end Paul-style: And I appeal to you, brethren, bear with the word of exhortation, for I have written to you in few words. (Hebrews 13:22)

God bless you.
