Last Sunday’s service was epic for me and several other people. It was especially so because of the Presence of God that we felt. This heavenly experience was undeniably due to the wonderful songs of the moment which our great and dedicated worship team led us in.

It seemed to me that we picked up the singing from where we left off on Thursday. Instead of praying last Thursday, the Spirit of the Lord led us into singing unto the Lord non-stop for close to two hours! We had never done unto God such a marvelous thing in the close to eight years of our (church) existence. Sunday therefore was a continuation of Thursday. Hallelujah!

Now, although all the songs on Sunday were powerful, two of them, Benjamin Dube’s “We Lift Him Higher” (which I will here refer to as “When the Praises Go Up”), and Jenn Johnson’s “Goodness of God” seemed to be more of the songs of the day than the rest. And always, if the right person God has chosen leads a particular song, it brings with it a greater glory of God than if someone else leads it. That indeed was the case on Sunday. When Grace Joy and Elizabeth Mugimba testified that the moment Glory Kulubya took over in leading “When the Praises Go Up” they vividly felt the Presence God, they were not only saying the truth, but also speaking for many of us. And when at the end of the preaching Juliana Nantaba led us in singing “Goodness of God,” it felt so powerful and beautiful. Although it was way past service time, hardly anyone wanted “Goodness of God” to end. Why? Because we could sense God’s hand on it. I could tell that Joan Isoke who was leading the service, and Juliana who was leading the singing, both never wanted to prematurely bring an end to “Goodness of God.” And what amazed me further is that unknown to many church members, the worship team never practiced that song prior to Sunday. Yet when they sang it, the voices and sound were perfect. I also believe that the unusual glory of God which that song carried was God witnessing unto us that what had been preached concerning His faithfulness to His promises – an outstanding theme of that song – was of Him. Hallelujah! But just as I said earlier, it matters who leads that song. Concerning last Sunday, Juliana was the God-chosen leader of “Goodness of God,” just as Glory Kulubya was for “When the Praises Go up”.

This probably should be the takeaway message from all that I have written: God is faithful to what He promised us individually and corporately, and when our praises go up unto Him, we shall see His goodness. Amen.

God bless our Worship Team.
