I went to bed late one night because I was listening to Bishop David Oyedepo’s teachings on supernatural church growth. Early the next morning, Ronald Yiga came to my home and handed me Oyedepo’s book 30 Years of Ministry. Apparently, in the night, Ronald had dreamt when he was picking that book from his shelf and handing it over to me. Putting two and two together, I knew God was communicating something very important. I therefore read that book with seriousness.

Having completed reading it, one thing stood out; and that was the key thing God wanted me to use as the foundation of the church Last Adam Tabernacle that was going to start in a few weeks.

David Oyedepo’s success was due to one thing: he only did what God told him to do. Everything he set out to accomplish was as the Master commanded him. God is now in search of more Oyedepos, those who will discover His what and how and then stick to that alone.

Contrary to what carnal Christians think, success has nothing to do with how many Facebook likes a preacher gets, the number of his followers, nor the amount of money his ministry can raise. Heaven measures success by how closely one walks in the will of God. If what you are doing is according to the pattern that God revealed to you, you are a big success and a glorious crown awaits you. The opposite is also true. At the judgment seat of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:10), many of today’s heroes will be revealed as ‘zeroes’ simply because they did not build as they were instructed.

We need to emulate Oyedepo and many others in the Bible. Take for example Moses the prophet. God told him, "According to all that I show you, that is, the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furnishings, just so you shall make it" (Exodus 25:9). Moses did not deviate from that heavenly pattern, so God proudly called him faithful (Hebrews 3:2-5). David also was a success because he “served his own generation by the will of God” (Acts 13:36), not his will.

I marvel at people who are always striving to do so much for God, instead of doing what they were told. Then there are those who never take time to finish their assignments. This I have especially observed among those who are extraordinarily gifted by God. They never rest in doing what should be done at the present. They are always embarking on projects whose time has not yet come. Because “the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable” (Romans 11:29), such people will often have results. But they are failures, because they did not build in the right seasons. Never forget this: in God’s eyes, results do not necessarily equate to success. Your motivation therefore must never be quantity of works but rather obedience. That is the only thing that counts in the sight of God.

Then there are works which start according to God’s pattern, only to be furthered in the flesh. Brothers and sisters, this should not be so in our lives. Let us stick to God’s blueprint of things. If we build just as He instructed, our accomplishments will precede us into eternity. But if we do our own stuff, we are simply building sandcastles. When the storms come, and the winds blow, those sandcastles will eternally perish because they did not have a "thus saith the Lord" foundation.

Let us seek the will of God and only build according to the pattern He shows you. That way, we shall be rewarded in heaven. If in the process of accomplishing God’s will anyone tries to hinder our progress, they will be shamefully exposed. If need be, archangel Gabriel will be sent to deliver you from such evil schemes, just as he did for me on Sunday.

God bless you.
