The book of Revelation talks about events that take place when the seals of a certain scroll are opened in heaven. Seals 1-4 deal with the Great Tribulation events which will also affect Christians. Indeed Christians will be on the earth during the Tribulation, as evidenced by Seal 5 which talks about Christians that were martyred prior.
Seal 6 is when the ‘rapturing’ of Christians out of this world – to heaven – takes place. There, the sun becomes black, and the moon red, and the stars fall to the earth, at the return of the Lord Jesus Christ (Revelation 6:12-17). That is exactly what Jesus said would happen immediately after the Tribulation: The sun will be darkened, the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall down, at His coming, the exact same time when Christians will be gathered to Him – after the Tribulation (Matthew 24:29-31).
The Trumpets (1-6) are also taking about the Great Tribulation events – when Christians are still on the earth. It is at the sounding of the seventh / last trumpet that Jesus comes to the earth, as told by the twenty four elders in heaven (Revelation 11:15-17). And it is at the sounding of this same last trumpet that “the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we (who are alive) shall be changed” (1 Corinthians 15:52) to be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air (1 Thessalonians 4:17).
Surely Christians will be here during the Great Tribulation, and “he who endures to the end shall be saved” (Matthew 24:13). Therefore, let us prepare to overcome Satan in the Tribulation, by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of our testimony of faith in Jesus Christ, not loving our lives to the death (Revelation 12:11), if God chooses for us that path of death.
The good news is that thereafter, as we shall see next week, we shall escape the wrath of God.
God bless you.
