I was so blessed on Sunday, when I got to learn that my Resurrection Sunday sermon was straight from Heaven! I received about three confirmations to that effect, including one from Joan Isoke, and the other from the Mugimba family. Surely God wanted us to hear about the resurrection of His Son Jesus, what preceded it, what followed, and what is yet to come as prophesied (Colossians 2:16-17) by the LORD’s feasts in Leviticus 23.

Even before Man fell, God had in mind a very detailed salvation plan for humanity that He would execute in His Son Jesus Christ. What we see in Leviticus 23 is that plan concealed. With the coming of Jesus, that plan begun to be revealed and to unfold. Seeing that several aspects of that plan have been executed, we can be sure that God will watch over His word to complete the remaining aspects.

As we studied on Sunday from Leviticus 23, the most immediate aspect of that plan that is pending is the return of our Lord and Savior. He is coming first and foremost to take us ‘home’ to be with Him. Knowing that it is not a given that every Christian will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air and thereafter to be with Him forever (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 and Ephesians 5:3-7), we should do the one thing He requires of us. That one thing is loving Him in return. We love Him first and foremost by obeying His commandments, which are not difficult to obey. “For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome” (1 John 5:3).

If we do not love God, but instead willingly and habitually disregard His commandments, we shall be despising the blood of Jesus by which we were sanctified, storing up for ourselves a certain fearful expectation of judgment and eternal punishment (Hebrews 10:26-29). Let us therefore love Him who first loved us and gave His life for our eternal salvation.

God bless you.
