It is written twice in the Bible about Enoch that he walked with God (Genesis 5:22, 24). That walking with God was so great that it resulted in Enoch being taken out of the earth alive! I believe that it is God’s desire that it is also written about us in the books of heaven that we walked with Him. It is for that reason that walking with God should top the list of our pursuits.
Now, if walking with God is God’s wish for our lives, and that we should pursue it, we need to understand what it is. Unfortunately, I do not think I really know the full meaning of ‘walking with God’. However, I believe that I know its basic and primary meaning, which is simply walking with God.
We walk with God when He is always on our mind. We walk with God when we speak with Him continuously as a man speaks with a friend as they walk together. We walk with God when as we go about our daily tasks we deliberately commune with Him, talking to Him about whatever we are involved in. We walk with God when we seek to walk according to His instructions, because we acknowledge that He is always with us, seeing whatever we do, and hearing all that we speak. We walk with God when His Word is the only manual we have to live by in this world. We walk with God when we cannot imagine a life without Him, and therefore thank Him throughout the day for Him revealing Himself to us and loving us.
This week, let us try practicing those basic and primary meanings of walking with God. God will be pleased with us as He was with Enoch, and He will bless us.
Be blessed.
