In Genesis 5, it is written of Enoch that he walked with God. The third mention of Enoch’s relationship with God is when the Bible says that, “. . . he pleased God” (Hebrews 11:5). Then the writer continues and says that, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him” (Hebrews 11:6). From these two passages in Genesis and Hebrews, we learn that we walk with God, the way Enoch did, by having faith in God, or believing Him. Hence God’s question to the Israelites that, “Can two walk together unless they are agreed?” (Amos 3:3)

Believing the words of promise which God gives us is an integral part of walking with Him. If God has promised us something, but we instead believe what contrary circumstances are telling us, we have at that point stumbled significantly in walking with God.

God’s word to us is not to be taken lightly. Jesus is the Word of God that came down from Heaven and dwelt among us (John 1:14), and that Word was God (John 1:1). By this we further see that if the word of promise that God has given us is not exalted above everything that is contrary to it, then we are not walking with God as we should.

If you are one of those who is serious about walking with God as Enoch did, then choose to believe the word that God gives you. When you do that, you will please God as Enoch did, and that will be said of you for all eternity. We have only one lifetime to obtain the eternal testimony that we pleased God when it wasn’t easy. Let us not waste it. Let us walk with God by having faith in Him, by believing what He tells us.

God bless you.
