I was recently sick for more than a week, and so I thank God for healing me, and giving me joy and gladness of heart immediately after I had recovered. I pray that we never take God’s joy for granted, but always thank Him for it, just as one of our church members, Mrs. Glory Kulubya always does.
A day or so after I had recovered and was steadily regaining my strength, I received a text message from my wife letting me know that Donald Trump had won the U.S. election. The joy that filled my heart thereafter was such as I hadn’t experienced for quite some time. Surely God had granted Trump victory. That made me so glad because of the good Trump is going to do (I hope he doesn’t disappoint God and us), and the abating of Kamala Harris’ evil agenda.
Either that same day or the next, my dear wife came home with more joy-filled news. One of her employers had requested her to travel upcountry for a short assignment, and she (my wife), wanted us to travel together. That upcountry destination is a place that I have loved travelling to this year, and I have made four trips there already. So the news of an offer to travel there, all expenses paid, brought me immeasurable joy. And once we got there, the gladness that I experienced was that which only God can give. My wife kept telling me that God ‘engineered’ that trip just for me, as she didn’t see any reason why she had to be sent there. God is good!
Then came Sunday, three days ago. First of all, it was a joy to attend a church service after not being able to do so for two weeks. And as has been the case for months now, I had to get someone to lead the service – but I didn’t know who. Less than five minutes to the beginning of the service, I zeroed in on Mrs. Lydia Namanya. She was in shock, and I too knew that I had taken a big risk. (But I learnt years ago that FAITH is spelt R.I.S.K). Thank God Lydia did a fabulous job. But that is not my testimony, for that is not what really brought me great joy. Great joy filled my heart when after the service, Dr. Bridget Mujuni walked up to me and told me she had dreamt that Sunday morning that Lydia was leading the service! I was overjoyed to know that I had been in God’s perfect will in choosing Lydia to lead the service – less than five minutes before it started. Glory be to God.
God always fills our hearts with joy and gladness. Let us therefore always thank Him for that.
“Nevertheless He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good, gave us rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness” (Acts 14:17).
