One of the greatest prophets of the post-modern church age passed away last week. His name was Paul Cain. You should read the story surrounding his birth and his prophetic ministry in order to understand how exceptional he was. He was such a blessing that many great men and women of God, including Rick Joyner, considered him a spiritual father. Yet he fell into and practiced some grave sins even while serving God. When one day Rick Joyner was caught up to heaven, he met Jesus who was extremely angry about something Paul Cain had done. We hope that Paul repented of his sins before he passed on.

There is a major lesson to learn from the life of Paul Cain: We must never think that God condones our sins just because our gifts are in manifestation. Every one of us has received spiritual and natural gifts from God. The ‘danger’ with these gifts is the assumption that for as long as they are in use, God is okay with our sinful lives – if indeed we are living that way.

We must also guard against the deception that we cannot fall because God has greatly gifted and is using us. Just as Rick Joyner wrote in The Final Quest, “In this life you can fall from any level,” and, “In some ways, those who have been to the greatest heights are in the greatest danger of falling.” Girls and women who are physically very attractive are prone to misuse their bodies, and people who are so brilliant often fall into self worship. This was the case with Lucifer before his great fall. He was “the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty” (Ezekiel 28:12).

Seeing that anyone of us can fall at anytime from any level, we must ask God to help us remain on track so that we can finish our race well. When we do inquire of God what we can do in order not to fall away from Him, He might suggest these principles in addition to others:

  • Love God with all your heart; love will keep you faithful unto Him
  • Keep your life simple; there is no need to be or appear sophisticated
  • Become a lifetime student of history; you will then always be reminded of what makes people succeed and what causes them to stumble
  • Make it a habit to do things that remind your would-be worshippers that you are just like them; say things about yourself that will prevent people from elevating you to God-status. If some despise you when they see your humanity, the better off you are because in that way, you too are reminded by the despisers that you are a mere mortal.

Please note that these principles apply to both spiritual and natural gifts like beauty, brilliance and business acumen.

God bless you.
