On the morning of Saturday 23rd January 2021, I woke up from one of the nicest dreams concerning our Church. Here is the dream:

I found myself in the company of Apostle Joseph Serwadda and Pastor Michael Kyazze. I told them that I attend a church called The One-Thing Church. I continued to tell them that I am going to build a Church (congregation) which, in a few specific number of years, will be the largest in Kampala. I was hesitant to tell them the exact number of years it was going to take from now until our congregation is the largest in town. A few moments later, it was another scene and I was seated with Apostle Serwadda. A man interrupted us to talk to the Apostle. Because he looked familiar, I asked him whether he is the old friend I had gone with to Primary school.

Interestingly, this dream captured some details of two past “events”. The first event is a dream I had in 2018. In that dream, Serwadda told me that our Church was going to grow very big. I pondered whether I should tell him about some dreams that said we would actually become the largest Church.

The second event, unrelated to the first, was a real life occurrence: sometime back, I had a meeting with Serwadda in his office. After we had met and as I left the office, I met a certain Alex at the door waiting to also meet with Serwadda. Interestingly, although Alex works for Serwadda at his radio and television stations, he actually goes to Pastor Kyazze’s Church. I believe that the featuring of some details of both a past dream and a real life event was God’s way of validating the authenticity of Saturday’s dream.

This dream was a reiteration that indeed LAT will become the largest Church in Kampala in a few years from now. At the same time, God used it to communicate something very significant for which He commends us. In the spirit, LAT also goes by the name “The One-Thing Church”. Heaven recognizes, and honors our determination to only seek to please our Father God, and Jesus Christ our Lord, in everything that we do as a congregation. It is evident by that dream that we, by the grace of God, have earned the reputation in Heaven of being Jesus-centered, hence being referred to as “The One-Thing Church”. Hallelujah.

I am reminded of March 2019 when I felt we needed to review the fact that pleasing Jesus is all we are about. I consequently started preparing a sermon entitled “Revisiting Our Christ-centric Vision”, using the scripture “Where there is no vision, the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18). That night, I had this dream which confirmed that I was to preach that very message: I was a teacher in a school. I was simultaneously teaching different students who were in different classrooms. I would speak a word or phrase to students in one room, then run to other classes and tell them the same thing. I would then run back to the first class and pick up the sentence where I left off; then again run to the other classes and tell them the same thing. Basically, all the classes had to receive my lesson at exactly the same time. Some students were older than others, while some were newcomers. Towards the end of the dream, I recognized that the topic of the lesson was: ‘Where there is no vision, the people perish’. Then I awoke.

God was definitely telling us by that dream that we all needed to be on the same page regarding our vision – we exist as a Church because of, and for Jesus. That is why we should never do anything that is not from Him. We must strive to do only that which our Master commands, and aim to please Him as we do so.

God was really very interested back then in us revisiting our Christ-centric vision because after that Sunday, I started preparing for ‘part two’ of the sermon that I would call “Jesus At The Centre”. To my surprise, that Thursday, Carol Busingye who had no idea of my preparations, dreamt that she was preaching a message with exactly the same title! By this, God was emphasizing that the matter of having Jesus as our one and only purpose was of major importance. Here is Carol’s dream: I was at church, it was a much (muuuuuuuch) bigger congregation. I wasn’t the preacher for the day but the person leading the service called on me to preach. I wasn’t prepared, obviously, and as I walked to the pulpit, Pastor Moses asked me if I was okay, if I could handle... he could do the preaching if I couldn’t handle. I said I was fine and would do it. I started to preach, and I would move up and down the corridors of the congregation to make sure everybody hears me and I hear them too. During the preaching, I kept wondering if I was on the "mulamwa" that Pastor had wanted to preach that day or if I was off course. As the dream ended, I saw that the topic for the day was “Jesus”. It was broadcast on a small screen suspended above Pastor’s head, which hadn’t been there before. The message I shared was entitled “Jesus at the centre”; so I was relieved that the message wasn’t off. Then the dream ended.

Fast-forward to Saturday 23rd January 2021, we are called “The One-Thing Church” in Heaven. We have attained what to me is the greatest achievement a Church can strive (or hope) for. Our responsibility henceforth is to remain “The One-Thing Church”. All we need to do is to continue doing ONLY what our Master instructs us, and to honor Him in EVERYTHING we do.

Thank you for being a part of this journey. And I give God all the glory for He is and has been all the help we ever needed in pleasing Him.
