Many years ago, there was a certain preacher that I and many other Christians worldwide loved dearly because his teachings blessed us very much. One day, he fell into some sin. After receiving God’s forgiveness and turning away from the sin, he also publicly revealed to us his followers what he had been up to and asked us to forgive him. Knowing that many of those who loved him were going to be deeply hurt to the point of giving up on Jesus, he admonished them saying, “Keep the faith.”

You see, as long as we still have this mortal body, we shall be subjects of all manner of suffering including pain, hurt, and disappointment. However, none of these should ever cause us to depart from our Lord Jesus by forsaking the faith we have in Him. Suffering is our assured portion, but it should never cause us to cast away our inheritance of eternal life that we have by virtue of our faith in the Lord Jesus. We must by all means keep the faith, knowing that suffering is temporary, and there is an eternal glory awaiting those who won’t throw in the towel because of suffering. “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory” (2 Corinthians 4:17).

A few months ago, many Christians, including me, were greatly disappointed because Donald Trump did not get a second term as President of the United States of America. I read and heard that some of those Christians were contemplating departing from the faith because the God who had apparently spoken by the mouths of many holy prophets that Trump would come back did not fulfill His promise. I am sure that some Christians actually turned their backs on the Lord on account of the ‘failed’ prophecies. But they should not have done so. The pain of things not going as you hoped should never cause you to sell your eternal birthright and end up in hell. “For if we sin willfully by departing from Jesus after we have received the knowledge of the truth (after getting saved), there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation in hell which will devour the adversaries (people who were once saved but threw in the towel). Anyone who has rejected Moses’ law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. Of how much worse punishment in hell, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay those who forsake Me,” says the Lord. And again, “The LORD will judge with eternal punishment His people who forsake Him.” It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God who is angered.” (Hebrews 10:26-31).

Therefore my brothers and sisters, keep the faith, no matter what the Devil throws at you. Don’t be part “of those who draw back to perdition (in hell), but of those who believe to the saving of the soul . . . Do not cast away your confidence (faith), which has great reward of living with God forever” (Hebrews 10:39, 35). Amen.

God bless you.
