In 1 Samuel 30, we read about how the Amalekites attacked Ziklag, the city in which David and his men were hiding from Saul. Ziklag was burned with fire and the Amalekites took captive its wives, sons and daughters. God instructed David to pursue the Amalekites. As David made the pursuit, two hundred of his men got weary and did not continue with him but stayed by the supplies. After he had recovered all the captives and taken spoils from the Amalekites, he commanded that “as his part is who goes down to the battle, so shall his part be who stays by the supplies; they shall share alike” (1 Samuel 30:24).

“The generous soul shall prosper (Proverbs 11:25)”. When we give to others, we shall be given in return (Luke 6:38). How is it then that many give but never break out of lack?
