Christians were beginning to gather for fellowship inside a hall. Christopher (not his real name) secured a seat at the front. Curiously, he positioned his chair to face the back of the room. He then walked to a dimly lit corner at the back, got himself another chair, turned it 90 degrees not to face the front, sat down with a lady with whom he was obviously in an illicit sexual relationship, as he waited to be served very expensive alcohol. End of dream.

This dream recently came a few days after the burial of a certain gentleman. He accepted Jesus as His Savior many years ago, and was regarded by many as a model Christian. No wonder then the showers of eulogies that followed him, several of which ended with: “See you in heaven.” But is he really in heaven? The dream seems to suggest otherwise!

The dream revealed the secret and sinful side of Christopher. By it, many eulogies were nullified, and possibly the “see you-s in heaven.” Although Christopher was a Christian, his walk was the opposite of what befits a Christian. His was a walk not worthy of the Lord (Colossians 1:10). He therefore could have missed heaven although he was a Christian! Otherwise, why would God send such a dream after his departure?

In Luke chapter 10, a certain man asked Jesus what he should do to inherit eternal life (v.25). Jesus’ answer included a question to begin with: “What is written in the law?” (v.26). The man answered and said, “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself,” (v.27). Then Jesus gave the real answer to the man’s question: “Do this and you will live,” (v.28).

This is similar to another incident between Jesus and another man:

Now a certain ruler asked Him, saying, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. You know the commandments: Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not bear false witness,’ Honor your father and your mother.’” (Luke 18:18-20)

My dear friends, what is required of us in order to inherit eternal life has never changed. If we are to live forever with Jesus, we must do what is written in the Scriptures – we must love God by obeying His commandments. “For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments,” (1 John 5:3).

I admonish all of you to reject the false grace message which teaches that everyone who once upon a time accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour is going to inherit eternal life. Jesus and all the writers of the New Testament never at any one time said such nonsense. Christopher seemed to have fallen for that doctrine of demons, (like I once did), and it could have cost him eternal life going by the possible implication of the dream.

Covid is killing people. I pray that God will protect you from it. However, if it or something else is to kill you, let it find you walking worthy of the Lord – doing His commandments. Then you will inherit eternal life.

“Do this (love God by keeping His commandments) and you will live (inherit eternal life).” (Luke 10:28).

God bless you.
